Core Book PDF Delivery

We hope you’re having a great 2022 and staying safe, healthy, and getting some great gaming in! We’ve got some exciting news, Team Avatar—the core book has a PDF release date for you, our wonderful backers! And it’s this month!
Core Book Preview PDF Delivery
The core book has gone through several rounds of approvals in the last month. This has mostly involved addressing notes that ViacomCBS sends to us and then returning a new draft to them. The PDF is currently in the final step of approvals, and that means we can start delivering the final core book PDF to you very soon!
How soon? Well, once we get it back from this final approval, we will begin the process of uploading it to DrivethruRPG. Once that is done, they’ll begin delivering the PDF to all of you amazing backers! This process will take several days since there are so many of you, but everyone should have their PDF by the end of February.
If all goes to plan, we estimate that PDF deliveries will begin on February 21st. As mentioned, the PDFs will be released in batches. This is simply because the system can only process so many files per day. So if you don’t get your file on the 21st, please be patient. We promise it’ll get to you!
We are currently working out the details with Backerkit and DrivethruRPG on exactly how you’ll receive the files. On February 21st we will post another update with a step by step guide to getting your PDF! This will also include information on where to send feedback, what to do if you have multiple copies coming to you, and what to do if you don’t receive your copy!
Next Steps
Wan Shi Tong’s Adventure Guide is also now in the approval process. We’ve submitted the book to ViacomCBS and are now working with them to address their feedback. This means all the adventure books, additional playbooks, and additional legends are complete, the book is laid out, and we will be able to deliver it soon. Much like with the core book, it could take a few weeks to get everything ironed out and ready for you!
Once it’s complete, we will do the same process we did with the core book and deliver it to you before we take it to the printer. This will allow for a couple of weeks of feedback before we submit a final copy to the printer. From there, our updates will start talking about the arduous process of physical production.
As always, we’ll keep you informed on any changes or delays that crop up in the production process and will continue monthly updates as we have been doing!

PDF Timeline Update

Happy New Year, Team Avatar! We’re back in the office at Magpie Games HQ and working hard to get everything lined up for Avatar Legends: The RPG! Here are the updates on the project, when you can expect your PDF, and what we’ve been working on over the holidays!
PDF Delivery
We have exciting news! We’ve completed the core book text and layout! We’ve handed off the full PDF to the amazing folks at ViacomCBS, and we are now waiting for approvals. If you were with us through the campaign, you’ll know that approvals is a process in which Avatar Studios goes through our work and determines if it is approved, or if we need to change or modify it to better fit the Avatarverse.
This process usually takes a few weeks, but we’ve been working closely with them throughout the process, so we’re hopeful to get their notes back soon! Once we have the PDF back from approvals and complete all the necessary edits, the next step is sending it to you!
In other words…you should be expecting your core book PDFs in the next few weeks! Once the approval process is done, we’ll send out PDFs via Backerkit and will post an update here to let you know how to access the files!
Next Steps
Now that we’re done with the core book, we’re working on getting Wan Shi Tong’s Adventure Guide to approvals next! That’s going well and we’re excited to be so close to finishing the PDF to approvals and then to you. Once we’re done with the Adventure Guide, we’ll be sending files to the printer to begin the arduous task of printing up all these books!
In addition, we’ve been working hard on getting all of the accessories through approvals. Almost all of them are approved, and mass production for them will begin after the Lunar New Year! They’re right on schedule to be done before the books are finished printing.

Shipping Timeline Update

Happy Winter, friends! We’re back with another monthly update on what all we’ve been up to at Magpie Games HQ and where we’re at with the Avatar Legends RPG! We’ve got some good news and some less than ideal news, so let’s jump in and get everything covered!
Preorders Extended
Thank you to everyone who preordered and late pledged! We are extending preorders until January 1st—we know this is a busy time of year, so we’re adding a little extra time for those folks who still want to join Team Avatar. If you have friends who didn’t get in on the Kickstarter who still want a chance to grab the game and all the stretch goals, they have until December 31st!
Backerkit Update
At this point, everyone should have received your Backerkit survey. If you haven’t received it, please email us at [email protected] to get your information sorted out so we can ensure you’ve got your Backerkit ready to go!
Thank you to everyone who’s already filled out their Backerkit survey! If you are uncertain if you’ve filled it out, please log into Backerkit and check your survey there before emailing us. If you don’t see a completed survey, then shoot us an email and we’ll help sort you out! Thank you!
Refunds
As per our last update, refunds are no longer available. This includes preorders made after December 1st. Thank you to everyone who reached out to let us know they needed a refund and were patient with us as we worked through all the customer service emails!
Shipping Delays
After a lot of digging and searching, we are sad to say that simply due to the volume of printed materials, we need to delay when you will be receiving the physical copies of the game. It turns out that printing over 200,000 books—plus hundreds of thousands of journals, cards, and dice—will take much longer than usual due to cardboard and paper shortages. But even without those shortages, it’s just a very very high volume of books! Even if our printers manufacture ten thousand or more books a week… it would still take months to print all these books!
Our new shipping date is the Summer of 2022; we’ll have more specifics when we deliver the final files to the printer in the next few months. This new delivery date is for the physical products only, not for the PDF of the game. We are happy to say that we are on schedule for delivering PDFs to you all very soon! You will be able to play the full game in early 2022! It just won’t be with a physical book until that summer.
We apologize for the shipping delay. We know it’s not ideal, and we’re so sad we can’t make magic happen. Sometimes journeys take longer than you planned them to, and while we know you’re all amazing, we want you to know we’re so grateful for all your patience and kindness as we’ve been figuring out how best to get you the books as quickly as we can.

Flameo, friends! We’re hard at work and have been getting a lot done on Avatar Legends: The RPG! It’s time to give you an update and let you know what’s been going on, clarify some popular questions, and talk about what’s happening next!
Backerkit Updates
You should have received an email by now from Backerkit inviting you to complete a survey. These surveys collect your shipping information, allow you to alter your order, and add any add-ons you want.
NOTE: In order to receive your rewards, you must fill out the Backerkit survey.
For folks who preordered (late pledged), you do not need to fill out another survey nor will you receive one. When you preorder, you filled out the survey at the same time. So you’re all set!
If your pledge failed, you will still receive an invitation. You can use the survey to pay for your failed pledge if you still want to pledge to the project!
If you want a refund, have an issue with your order, need to edit your order, haven’t received your email, or have any other concerns about your pledge or Backerkit, please email us at [email protected]. We’re happy to help!
Backerkit FAQ
Here are some answers to some of the most common questions we’ve been getting! Hopefully, these help you! But if you have a question you don’t find here, give us a shout via email!
When will Backerkit close?
The pledge manager will be open until December 1st! At that point, we won’t be accepting any more late pledges. You will still be able to fill out your survey after December 1st, but we won’t be able to guarantee on-time delivery for your rewards.
Why can’t I edit my order or pledge?
Once you complete the survey, Backerkit locks it and charges you. To make changes, you’ll need to email us at [email protected].
Can I get a refund?
Yes! Email us at [email protected]. We will no longer offer refunds, however, after December 1st.
How can I change my shipping address?
You can change your shipping information any time by logging into Backerkit and updating it there! You DO NOT need to contact us to make address changes.
I have an Apple ID log in on Kickstarter so I haven’t gotten my survey. What do I do?
Please email us with your backer number and what email address you want us to use instead and we’ll manually change it for you!
Why isn’t the Expanded Play Booklet or Adventure Booklets listed in my rewards?
The Adventure Booklets and Expanded Play Booklet are in Wan Shi Tong's Adventure Guide. WSTAG is an upgraded hardcover version of the booklets that includes exclusive new content featuring Wan Shi Tong! If you want separate physical copies then they are available as the Booklet Bundle at a reduced price. Thanks!
What’s with the blue lotus tile?
The final version of the blue lotus tile is the final approved art based on the guidance from Avatar Studios!
The Work Continues
We have been writing up a storm and things are going great! We’re excited to say that a lot of things are in approvals right now, including most of the final text. Stay tuned here in the updates for previews of these exciting rewards!
A bit more on the process: As we finish the text of the book or prototypes of the accessories, we send them to ViacomCBS for approvals. Unfortunately, until they get all the way through the approvals process, we can’t talk about them or show them to you. But rest assured, that we’re working hard and submitting everything as quickly as we can so we can ensure you have a PDF in your hands! We can’t wait to get all of these rewards out to you as soon as possible!

Backerkit is Live & Luxury Dice Update!

We’re back, refreshed, and eager to keep the journey going! After some nice tea on our time off, we’ve gotten back to the work of making this epic game happen! We hope you had a great September!
Here’s what’s been going in Magpie Games HQ for Avatar Legends!
Backerkit Fulfillment
We are excited to work with Backerkit for fulfillment! Backerkit is a third-party software designed for pledge management. We’ll be using Backerkit to get your shipping information, allow you to get more add-ons if you want them, deliver PDF rewards, and manage your pledges!
Backerkit surveys will be sent to everyone via the email address used on their Kickstarter account. These surveys will be sent in waves, so don’t panic if you don’t get it right away. We’ve submitted it to review with Backerkit yesterday, and we’ll do a smoke test with a small number of backers before it goes out to everyone. You should see it by the start of next week!
You MUST complete your Backerkit survey to get your rewards. The survey will allow you to enter your shipping address, add any add-ons, and upgrade your pledge. If you do not fill out your survey, we cannot ship your pledge next year.
If you haven’t received your survey by October 30th, or run into any issues navigating Backerkit, please email us at [email protected] and we’re happy to help you out. Do not DM us on the Kickstarter, please email us directly.
Failed Pledges
If you backed the Kickstarter, and your pledge failed, you will still get a Backerkit survey and the opportunity to fix your dropped pledge. If you have already late-pledged after your payment failed, you will have two orders, one for your late pledge and one for your failed pledge during the campaign. Please do not pay for both. If you need help because you have two orders, please email us at [email protected].
Late Pledges
Late pledges will still be available until November 1st. We are keeping them open as long as we can to ensure those who missed out can get the game!

Luxury Dice Update
We’re so excited to show you some previews for the dice! But We also have an exciting update for everyone! We’ve just heard from Level Up Dice, and they’ve told us that we should receive enough dice to fulfill all the orders on the original timeline, meaning late shipping will not be needed!

Now that the team is back in the office, we’re working hard on sourcing the resources for printing so many books, playtesting mechanics, and finishing the book. It’s a busy time as we all work hard to get this amazing game to you!
